Toros WR Lance Legendre honored to etch his name with the first TD in new chapter of franchise

Early in the first period in preseason action versus the Hornets, the San Antonio Toros made new team history as quarterback Will Ardnt connected with receiver Lance Legendre for the team’s first touchdown of the 2026 season.

And Legendre couldn’t be happier to ring in the new season the proper way, scoring the game’s first six points.

“It felt good getting an opportunity to come out here and play with some guys that are all from different leagues, everybody chasing the same goal. So it was fun to see us put something together,” said Legendre.

For the team (and Legendre), getting the pads on and playing a real game was a huge boon for the Toros. Most players had been away from the football field, and for Legendre, it was an opportunity to showcase their skills

“It felt like I ain’t done that in a year or so. “It was an opportunity to get back out here and show what we could do, man. I’m excited, man.”

Scoring was a premium in the game’s first half as the Toros racked up as the team blanked the Tennessee Hornets, 43-0.

Led by Ardnt, who threw the ball to Legendre in the opening frame for the score, it was a momentous moment for him as well. Partly for the score and partly for getting hit again.

“First things first, it feels good to get hit again,” Ardnt laughed. “Just on the next play and trying to put up a lot of points today.”

Said Ardnt: “We’re gonna score as many as we can. There you go, all gas, no breaks.”

Ardnt did admit the team was going through the motions as rust settled in to start the game, but soon thereafter, the Toros got rolling in the first half on both sides of the field.

“We freaking messed up the first play, so that’s not, that’s not good enough, but we’ll be good. I mean, listen, it’s our first game, you’re gonna expect some rust, but just play the next play, and you know, manage the game.”

The Toros will kick off their regular season at home against the Tall City Black Gold on June 13.
