San Antonio Toros Sign 2 Players at Fan Event

The Brand New San Antonio Toros of the Continental Football League held a fan “Meet and Greet” at Main Event Stone Oak on January 17. The Toros originally held this “Meet and Greet” so the fans could ask questions and meet newly hired Head Coach and General Manager, Stan Bedwell. Fans who attended experienced the official signings of 2 Toro players, including a QB and the grandson of a Former San Antonio Toro player. Here’s who the Toros added to the stable in 2026.

LS Cade Collenback

Cade Collenback is a hometown San Antonioian, now becoming the long snapper for their hometown team. Cade Collenback is the grandson of Leo Seitz III, a former player for the original San Antonio Toros. Collenback started his college football career at Tyler Junior College, being named All-Conference Long Snapper as a Freshman. After the spectacular 2019 Freshman Season, Collenback came back home to play for the UTSA Roadrunners for the next 4 years. Collenback was UTSA’s primary Long Snapper his last 2 years in college. After the 2024 season, he would declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, having spent 5 years in college. Collenback would not sign a contract after going undrafted, leading him to become a free agent. After spending 2025 with a Pro Football Home, Cade Collenback would stay in his hometown and sign his first pro contract with the brand new San Antonio Toros for the summer of 2026.

QB Nate Hayden

Nate Hayden is a Texan quarterback who played at Dallas Christian High School before a long college career with multiple teams. Hayden committed to the Ouachita Baptist Tigers straight out of high school. He would redshirt his Freshman season, meaning he would never play for the Tigers. After his Freshman year in 2019, Hayden would make his first of many transfers to North Alabama University. The COVID-19 virus shortened UNA’s 2020 season by only playing 4 games. Hayden received no playing time in Florence, Alabama, leading to him playing in 2021 at JUCO’s Minnesota Community and Technical College, or M State. He would make his first college appearances for the Spartans in 2021.

His first season playing college football ended with him passing for 2,546 yards and 18 touchdowns while throwing 14 interceptions. His breakout year at M State led him to being named NJCAA First Team All-American, All-Conference, and Region 13 Player of the Year. After spending a single season at M State, Hayden would transfer to Presbyterian College for the 2022 season. His first season as a Starting Division 1 QB was disappointing, only leading the Blue Hose to a single win.

His redshirt junior season statistics were 1,287 passing yards, 7 touchdowns, combined with 7 picks. Even with the disappointing season, he would be named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. Returning to college for his final year of eligibility, Nate Hayden would make his last transfer to Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. In 2023, Hayden was named the Fire’s starting quarterback. Hayden’s senior season ended with 1,039 passing yards, 11 total touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. After a journeyed college career playing for 5 teams over 5 years, Nate Hayden declared for the 2024 NFL Draft but went undrafted.

Nate Hayden would go overseas to Germany to get his first Professional opportunity for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes of the GFL. Hayden would impress in 2024, passing for 2,234 yards and 25 touchdowns, leading the Baltic Hurricanes to 5 wins. Nate Hayden would step back into the Pro Football scene during the San Antonio Toros Fan Meet Up by signing his first United States Pro Football Contract.

Final Thoughts

The San Antonio Toros first fan meet-up at Main Event Stone Oak was historic for the Toro Faithful as they got to see and meet some players added to the team for 2026. Cade Collenback and Nate Hayden will each leverage their Texas connections to engage fans and support the Toros.
