Syndicate Sign Utley, Isbell, and Johnson to fill the D-Line

The Texas Syndicate are getting set for 2026, signing 3 defensive linemen. The Syndicate signed Brayden Utley, Patrick Isbell, and Emannuel Johnson to help fill out their defensive front. Here is an in-depth look at the new signings for the Syndicate.

Brayden Utley

Brayden Utley is a defensive tackle from Huntington Beach, California, who committed to Baylor, the college he will stay at for his whole career. His first-year season in 2018 led to a redshirt due to not getting any playing time for the Bears. His first time seeing the field came in 2019, while playing primarily on special teams. Utley totaled 2 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 2019. He was named 2019 All Big 12 First Team Academic Team for his grades that season. He made his first snaps on defense in 2020, when he totaled 20 tackles and a fumble recovery. Utley would be a starting defensive tackle for the Bears in 2021 and 2022. His 2021 season totaled 24 tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception. His academic achievement led Utley to win his second of three Big 12 First Team Academic Awards in 2021. Utley was a rotational starter in 2022, totaling 12 tackles and 0.5 sacks. He was awarded his last Big 12 First Team Academic Team his redshirt senior year in 2022. His academic achievements over the past 5 years have gotten him named to the Big 12 Commissioners Honor Roll every year. After the 2022 season, Brayden Utley declared for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Brayden Utley’s first pro football opportunity came with the Tucson Sugar Skulls of the Indoor Football League. For the Sugar Skulls in 2024, Utley totaled 39 tackles and 0.5 sacks during his first indoor football season. Prepping for the 2025 season, Utley signed with the IFA’s San Antonio Caballeros. The Caballeros would suspend operations before the 2025 season even started, leaving Brayden to have to look for another professional home. The next opportunity came with the LFA’s Mexicas based out of Mexico City. Utley totaled 55 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 33 QB pressures as the Mexicas won their second LFA Championship. Looking towards coming back to the states, Utley was noticed by Texas Syndicate Head Coach James Champagne and was signed to play for the inaugural team. Brayden Utley is hoping this opportunity in the CoFL will get him noticed by the CFL and UFL.

Patrick Isbell

Patrick Isbell is an interior defensive lineman from Phoenix, Arizona. Isbell would go under-looked by big-time programs, so he would go the Junior College route playing for the Gila Riverhawks from 2020-21. The Riverhawks were dominant in the shortened 2020 season as they won the HJCAC Conference Championship and were ranked #18 at the end of the season. In 2021, Isbell went pro, signing with the Frankfurt Universe of the German Football League. The Universe struggled in 2021, only winning 2 games. With a new coaching staff for the Universe, Isbell came back to the states to play for the Arizona Road Runners of the Gridiron Developmental Football League in 2022, as they finished #5 in the final GDFL rankings. His season brought him back to Europe, signing with the Tampere Saints. That season was Isbell’s best as he won Defensive Player of the Year and was a key player in their undefeated championship. Patrick would sign with the Tarahumara Rebellion IFA’s team for the 2025 season. The Rebellion would only play a single game vs the Dallas Prime due to financial issues and mismanagement from the league and team. Patrick Isbell is ready for a truly professional team to play for in 2026, so he signed with the brand-new Texas Syndicate of the CoFL.

Emmanuel Johnson

Emmanuel Johnson is a star defensive lineman from North Charleston, South Carolina, who originally committed to Georgia Tech. His 2020 first-year season saw little playing time for the Yellow Jackets, with only a single tackle all season. Looking for more playing time, Johnson transferred back to his home state of South Carolina to play football for Coastal Carolina University. Emmanuel Johnson would stay at Coastal Carolina for the rest of his collegiate career. Johnson’s sophomore season led to 14 tackles and a half sack as the Chanticleers won the Cure Bowl. His 2022 Junior season was cut short after only 6 games when he suffered a season-ending upper-body injury. Stats for 2022 were 8 tackles and a sack.

Coming off the season ending injury, Johnson impressed in 2023. He totaled 22 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery as he started every game for Coastal. Due to the shortened 2020 season, the NCAA offered Emmanuel Johnson an extra year, and he took the extra year. In 7 games for the Chanticleers in 2024, Johnson totaled 25 tackles and a forced fumble. After a star-studded career at Coastal Carolina, Emmanuel Johnson declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He would not sign a pro contract until the Texas Syndicate came calling this year, as they are loading up for their 2026 inaugural season.

Final Thoughts

The Texas Syndicate are spending the 2026 offseason signing talented defensive linemen Bryden Utley, Patrick Isbell, and Emmanuel Johnson. These defensive linemen come with experience playing in big-time college football games (Utley and Johnson) and huge games across the world (Isbell).
