San Antonio Toros Round Up RB Room with two new signings

Toros running back room

The San Antonio Toros added to the running back room over the last month by signing Andrew Henry and D’Vonte Price. These running backs come to San Antonio with Division 1 FBS College Experience on their resumes. The loaded backfield will have a competition between Emani Bailey (Read more about Bailey’s career by reading a previous article “Toros Load Up Roster Signing 6 Players”), Andrew Henry, and D’Vonte Price. This is projected to be one of the most highly anticipated position competitions in the whole CoFL. Here is everything you need to know about the new RB additions to the stable:

RB Andrew Henry

Andrew Henry is a running back from Dallas, Texas, who went the JUCO route his first two collegiate seasons, starting at Fort Scott Community College. His true freshman 2019 season was a success as he played in seven games, getting fifty-four yards and a single rushing touchdown. After the season, Henry would transfer back to Texas to play at Trinity Valley Community College. Trinity Valley moved their 2020 schedule to Spring 2021 due to the Covid-19 Virus Lockdown. That Spring, he would turn heads by becoming one of the best JUCO running backs, being ranked #6 by 247 Sports. He would rush for 270 yards and two touchdowns in the spring of 2021. The season was noticed by Louisiana Monroe scouts and coaching staff, leading to Henry to play for the Warhawks. In the Fall of 2021, Henry would lead the Warhawks in rushing yards at 485, combined with his four rushing touchdowns. His 2022 season was the first year since 2019 in which he had a full offseason with a team. His junior year would end with 322 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Henry would make the decision to transfer to Power 5 Team New Mexico for his 2023 senior season. He would compete with now-Washington Commanders running back, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, for the starting job. Even though he was the backup, Henry ran for 350 yards and three touchdowns. Croskey-Merritt transferred to Arizona, leaving an opportunity for Andrew Henry to be the full-time starter for the Lobos. He planned on 2024 being his last season, believing he had an extra year of college eligibility. The plans came crashing down when the NCAA ruled him ineligible due to a “tracer” issue. He was no longer allowed to play college football, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. Most people give up on their dreams, but Andrew Henry worked hard and was selected to play in the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl. The East-West Shrine Bowl is a senior bowl where NFL Draft hopefuls try to impress NFL Scouts. The East-West Shrine Bowl was Henry’s chance to prove to everyone that he still has the college explosiveness every time he runs the ball. At the Dream Bowl, Henry ran for sixty-eight yards, including the largest play from scrimmage. Even with the great game, Henry would go undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Continuing to work for his Dream, Andrew Henry signed with the San Antonio Toros as his first professional opportunity.

D’Vonte Price

D’Vonte Price is a running back from Punta Gorda, Florida, who committed to FIU in 2017. He would stay at FIU his entire collegiate career, making his first start vs Western Kentucky as a freshman, totaling 131 rushing yards throughout the season. Price would get more playing time during his sophomore season as he continued to move up the depth chart, even making three starts, totaling 560 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on the season. The 2019 season would be Price’s last season as a rotational back, totaling 249 rushing yards. His wait as a rotational running back paid off during the 2020 season when Price became the primary back for the Panthers. In only five games, D’Vonte would get 581 rushing yards and four touchdowns while getting season awards. He would earn the 2020 Conference USA Honorable Mention Team and Phil Steele All Conference USA Third Team. Due to the shortened 2020 season, the NCAA rewarded him with an extra year of eligibility in 2021. D’Vonte would make his final impact for FIU by continuing his dominance from the shortened season. As the primary back in 2021, he would total 682 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. He received his second Conference USA Honorable Mention Team in 2021. He was noticed by major NFL scouts after the impressive season, which got him selected to play in the 2022 Senior Bowl.

D’Vonte Price would go undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft before signing with the Indianapolis Colts. He would compete with Phillip Lindsey, Ty’son Williams, and Deon Jackson for a game-day roster spot. The Preseason would see Price lead the team in rushing week 2 vs the Detroit Lions. He would be one of the final Colts roster cuts, but would be resigned to the practice squad days later. Injuries led to the Colts activating Price for a few games in 2022, where he would play special teams. After the season, D’Vonte would become a free agent after the Colts failed to re-sign him. D’Vonte Price would spend 2023-24 away from football before signing with the CFL’s BC Lions. Before ever playing a snap for the Lions, Price was released. D’Vonte Price would keep working for his next opportunity until Stan Bedwell and the San Antonio Toros came calling for him to compete in the loaded Toros backfield.

Projected Starting Lineup

1)     Emani Bailey

2)     Andrew Henry

3)     D’Vonte Price

I project the starting lineup will be Emani Bailey, then Andrew Henry, and D’Vonte Price rounding out the room. I believe Emani Bailey will be the starter for the Toros due to his experience with a talented TCU team and recent NFL opportunities. Bailey was noticed by many teams after 2024, from the Birmingham Stallions to the Kansas City Chiefs. I think Andrew Henry will use the motivation of not being able to play his planned last season will get him to be a great rotational back, and the RB that gets a game-changing run. D’Vonte Price I predicted will be last on the depth chart due to him being out of football for the last couple of seasons. This is a position battle to watch for in the CoFL, as each RB will compete to be the number one running back for the Toros. Who do you think will be the Toros started running back in 2026?
