The San Antonio Toros continued building towards the 2026 season, signing 6 new players. The Toros added Chris Carpenter, Dylan Wright, Micahh Smith, Keilahn Harris, Te’Ron Brown, and Emani Bailey over the last couple of weeks. Here’s an in-depth look at the new Toros:

WR Chris Carpenter

Chris Carpenter is a wide receiver from Jacksonville, Texas who played his collegiate career at Colorado and UTSA. His freshman season in 2021 at Colorado totaled 7 catches for 45 yards. After his Freshman year, Carpenter would transfer to UTSA. His first season at UTSA would mainly be as the kick returner, becoming the first Roadrunner to return a kickoff for a touchdown. He ended the 2022 season with 316 kick return yards combined with 10 receptions for 71 yards. His Junior season in 2023 would total 113 kick return yards and 52 receiving yards. Carpenter’s senior season in 2024 would be a great season at both returning and catching. He finished the year with 479 receiving yards and his first receiving touchdown combined with 261 kick return yards and 2 kickoff touchdowns. After his senior season, Chris Carpenter would declare for the 2025 NFL Draft going undrafted. The New Orleans Saints had a tryout with Carpenter but he never got signed. This January, the Toros wanted him back in San Antonio to be one of the best kick returners in the CoFL.

WR Dylan Wright

Dylan Wright is a star wide receiver who was an Under Armour All-American as a senior in high school and the No. 12 Wide Receiver in the country. Wright would commit to Texas A&M after this incredible high school career. He would spend 2019-20 for the Aggies, redshirting in 2019 and never catching a pass in the shortened 2020 season. After never finding his footing at Texas A&M, Wright would transfer up to Minnesota. He would finally get playing time in his Redshirt Freshman Season at Minnesota catching 18 passes for 365 yards and 2 touchdowns. His second season would see Wright being a starter the whole year. His stats for the year were 17 receptions for 280 yards combined with a touchdown. After a great 2-year stint at Minnesota, Wright would come back home to Texas, playing for TCU.

In 2023, TCU was coming off a National Championship Appearance hoping to get back to the promised land. Dylan Wright would be a key player in the first half of the season before he got an injury ending his first year for the Horned Frogs. His stats for the season were 11 receptions for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns. His final year in 2024 was strange as he only played in two games never recording a catch. Dylan Wright would declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, but never got picked up due to the ending of his college career not playing but barely in a game. Dylan Wright hopes to show the flashes for the Toros and prove why he was a top-ranked WR coming out of High School.

DB Micahh Smith

Michahh Smith is a defensive back originally from Marshall, Texas who originally committed to Arkansas after his high school career. He redshirted his Freshman season in 2016 and only played special teams in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. 2019 would see Smith getting major playing time totaling 22 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. He would opt out of the 2020 season, then transfer to Incarnate Word for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. His 2 seasons for the Cardinals ended with him totaling 18 tackles. Smith would declare for the 2023 NFL draft before going undrafted and never signing an NFL contract. He would sign with the San Antonio Brahmas before the merger. He would be left out of the UFL when they had the dispersal draft. In 2026, the San Antonio Toros gave Smith the opportunity he’s been waiting for since his college days.

WR Keilahn Harris

Keilahn Harris is a wide receiver from Richardson, Texas who committed to Oklahoma Baptist to play college football. Harris impressed the coaching staff so much that he played 11 games for his freshman season in 2019. He received 24 passes for 376 yards and 3 touchdowns, while having 407 kick return yards. Oklahoma Baptist would cancel its 2020 season, but would be back in 2021. Harris was a star in 2021, catching 92 passes for 1,084 yards and 16 touchdowns. His accomplishments led him to be named First Team All-GAC, D2CCA First Team Super Region 3, D2CCA Second Team All-American, and Honorable Mention for the Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American Team. He would stay at Oklahoma Baptist for his final junior season in 2022 continuing the dominance. Keilahn Harris would catch 80 passes for 1,050 yards combined with 7 touchdowns. His season would lead him to being named 2022 First Team All-GAC, D2CCA Second Team All-Region Super Region 3, D2Football Elite 100 First Team All-American, Honorable Mention for the Don Hansen All-American Team, and an NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Invite. Keilahn’s career at Oklahoma Baptist was historic as he broke nearly every school-wide receiver record. Harris had nothing else to prove in college, so he declared for the 2023 NFL Draft

Keilahn Harris went undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft, but immediately signed to the Atlanta Falcons training camp roster. He would be released on the final cuts but would sign to the practice squad throughout the 2023 season before getting released on October 28, 2023. The Pittsburgh Steelers took a chance on Harris when he signed a futures contract with the team. He would suffer an injury during training leading the Steelers to release him in May 2024. In November 2024, after Harris kept working, he signed a contract with the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but was released last July. Keilahn Harris is using the CoFL as a way to show other leagues he still has the talent to be a star wide receiver.

DL Te’ron Brown

Te’ron Brown is a Defensive Tackle from Orange, Texas. After High School, Brown would commit to Mary Hardin-Baylor University. 2022 saw Te’Ron appear in 5 games totaling 7 tackles and 0.5 TFL. His Sophomore year would see him get more playing time totaling 16 tackles and 2 sacks in 9 games. 2024 was a breakout year for Te’ron as he was named Second-Team All-ASC. His stats were 28 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and forcing 3 fumbles. After that dominating season for the Crusaders, Brown would declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. After going undrafted and becoming a free agent, Te’Ron Brown will play for the Toros in 2026 and show his dominance in front of thousands of fans and scouts.

RB Emani Bailey

Emani Bailey, originally from Denton, High School, signed with the Louisiana Ragin Caguns for college football. His freshman season would see little playing time as he only rushed for 60 yards on 10 rushes. 2021 for Bailey’s sophomore year would see him get more playing time but still be their 3rd string running back. He would finish the year with 642 yards and 8 touchdowns. Emani would make the hard decision to leave Louisiana and enter his name in the transfer portal. Bailey would transfer to TCU for the 2022 season when the Horned Frogs went to the National Championship Game. He sat behind 2 NFL running backs for the 2022 season, Kendre Miller and Emari Demercado, but still finished the year with 250 yards and 2 touchdowns. Emani Bailey would finally get his opportunity to shine in his senior year in 2023 as he was the unanimous starter for the first time in his collegiate career. He would finish his senior year with 1,209 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns being named 2023 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. He would run out of eligibility and declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs would sign Emani Bailey as an undrafted free agent. During training camp, Skip Holtz and the Birmingham Stallions drafted Bailey in the 3rd round of the 2024 UFL Draft. He would spend most of the 2024 season on the Chiefs’ practice squad before being released on November 6. The next month, Bailey got his second NFL opportunity with the Carolina Panthers when he signed with them on December 3, 2024. While signing a futures contract with the Panther, Bailey would be released after the 2025 Preseason. He remained unsigned until the San Antonio Toros came calling, hoping Bailey could become one of the best running backs in the league.
