Toros ink Wayland Baptist linebacker, Isaiah Brooks

The San Antonio Toros find another gem in open tryouts.

The team has announced it has signed Wayland Baptist University linebacker Isaiah Brooks to the roster, making him the second signing from the open tryout last Sunday.

The Toros are certainly adding more defensive firepower. Brooks was a three-year starter at WBU, named a 2-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference selection, and ended his college career with impressive numbers: two blocked kicks, 199 tackles, five sacks, three interceptions, seven pass breakups, and four fumble recoveries.

In sum, opposing offenses will have a tough time moving the ball downfield with Brooks and the Toros defense in their way.

The 6-1 linebacker from Little Elm, Texas, also recorded 13 tackles in his senior season and 105 solo tackles total during his time with Wayland.

The signing is not just a solid step for Brooks but also proof that the Toros’ open tryouts do work and that the team is looking to help those succeed on the field.

” ‘Isaiah Brooks’ shined at Sunday’s tryout, running a 4.58 at 225 lbs! Big-time playmaker from a small college that deserves an opportunity,” posted head coach Stan Bedwell on social media.
